This Sales Manager Opportunity Ravensdown is looking for an accomplished people and sales leader to lead its North Island field sales operation. This is a broad, influential role with the mandate to lift capability, grow market share and build a more connected, commercially confident approach to serving farmers.
The opportunity is bigger than selling fertiliser. Ravensdown wants to deepen its role as a trusted partner: understanding each farming business over time, creating space for wider conversations about farm performance and inputs, and connecting customers with the right expertise, advice, products and services across the cooperative.
Your Impact | People, Growth and Customer Partnership Reporting to the Head of Sales, you will lead an experienced team of Territory Managers, Agronomists and Sales Development Leads across the island. You will set a clear direction, coach leaders and field teams, build accountability and bring people with you as the sales culture continues to evolve.
In doing this you will:
- Build a high-performing, engaged sales culture through clear expectations, regular coaching and strong accountability.
- Shift customer conversations from individual transactions to long-term, whole-farm partnerships that create value for farmers and Ravensdown.
- Translate strategy and market insight into practical North Island plans that focus resources and grow volume, market share and sustainable commercial performance.
- Strengthen sales capability, including commercial acumen, disciplined use of CRM and digital tools, and confidence across Ravensdown’s wider product and service offering.
- Work across the business and with rural stakeholders to deliver a joined-up customer experience, build influential relationships and keep safety and wellbeing central to how the team operates.
About You | Primary Sector Credibility and Leadership You will be a credible, energetic leader who understands the realities of New Zealand farming and knows how to turn strategy into action through others. You may come from farm inputs, dairy, meat, rural services or another part of the primary sector. What matters is your ability to connect with farmers, lead an established team through change and build a modern, consultative sales culture.
You will bring:
- Substantial sales experience, with a track record of leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Genuine primary sector knowledge, networks and credibility with farming customers and stakeholders.
- A coaching-led leadership style that creates clarity, trust and accountability while building capability and supporting new ways of working.
- Strong commercial judgement and an understanding of the relationship between customer value, volume, margin and profitability.
- The confidence to challenge constructively, make sound decisions and collaborate across a complex organisation, together with a forward-looking mindset and the ambition to grow.
Why Ravensdown? Why Now? Ravensdown is a farmer-owned cooperative with an important role in New Zealand’s primary sector. Its purpose is to enable smarter farming for a better New Zealand, supporting customers with nutrients, agronomy, environmental services, spreading and digital tools.
For the right person, this is a career-defining opportunity: the scale and profile to make a visible impact, an experienced team to lead, and real scope to shape how one of New Zealand’s major rural businesses serves the next generation of farmers.
If you are a proven sales and people leader with strong primary sector credibility – and you are motivated by the opportunity to build capability, grow a market and change the nature of customer partnerships – we want to hear from you.
