We’re ardent supporters of corporate social responsibility programmes and we’ve regularly touched on the topic of doing good and the benefit for your employer brand in our blog posts. A recent article on stuff.co.nz really drove home the fact that we need to be walking the talk, particularly given the reality of the COVID world we now live in.
Corporate social responsibility or CSR programmes can take many forms which generally are related to efforts your business makes to improve environmental outcomes, diversity initiatives, donating/volunteering and ethical practices.
In the work we do as executive recruiters, we can’t emphasise enough the value of a well thought out CSR programme and the impact it has on candidates who are looking for opportunities with greater social purpose. Not to mention the positive associations formed by existing employees who feel a sense of connection with their employer’s core values.
For our business, the concept of supporting our community takes many forms. We’re not tooting our own horn; we’re just standing up and saying this matters and let’s share the good stuff. Here’s what we’ve been doing this year to demonstrate our commitment to what matters most to our people.
Pop up penguins
Decipher Group are super excited to be part of the Pop Up Penguin public art event in Christchurch. This special event, which includes a trail of individually decorated penguin sculptures, has hit the streets of Christchurch over Summer in 2020. It’s a fun, free and memorable event for all and what’s even more fantastic is that following the trail, the sponsored sculptures will be sold at auction with 75% of proceeds going to Cholmondeley Children’s Centre.
Maia health foundation
Māia is raising money for game-changing projects for Canterbury’s health system – offering a charitable way to improve South Islanders’ health experiences. Because we’re also here for our community it was a no-brainer for Decipher Group to jump onboard as a corporate supporter of the Māia Health Foundation. With the recent opening of Christchurch Hospital Hagley and the enhanced children’s facilities, Māia is delivering on its vision of taking our health services from good to great.
Cholmondeley Children’s Centre
Decipher Group are proud supporters of Ōtautahi Christchurch and Cholmondeley Children’s Centre which provides short term respite care for whānau with children aged 3 to 12 years. We’re team Cholmondeley and this January we are hosting The Great Penguin Corporate Challenge. Like many not-for-profits, it has been a challenging year for Cholmondeley to raise funds for children and families that they support. This event is a great way to give back while bringing your team together for a bit of fun and activity to help slide into the New Year. Registrations open Monday 7 December.
Doing good doesn’t stop there! We place high importance on being active through sponsorship and pro bono contributions. Over the past six years, Decipher has donated over $30,000 in sponsorships to various public health organisations, local community and sporting groups. We also provide our services at a heavily reduced rate to support local government and not-for-profit organisations and meet our annual pro bono contribution of 15 percent.
Need help?
If you are not sure where to focus your efforts or how to start your CSR journey, the best place to start is by asking your employees and clients – what matters the most to you?
