Decipher Group, Anderson Lloyd and In Your Corner had the pleasure of hosting Darren Shand at a Leadership-themed breakfast event recently. Darren inspired us all with his insightful and valuable messaging around building resilient, adaptable teams, and embracing an authentic and balanced approach to leadership.
A few of the key points;
- Connection Before Correction: Prioritise trust, empathy, and open communication to build a strong foundation before addressing challenges.
- Build Leadership Capabilities: Foster decision-making skills and independence within teams, empowering members to perform under pressure.
- Implement a Performance Triangle: Utilise a structured framework focusing on mindset, skill set, and structure to target areas for improvement.
- Balance Learning and Performance: Encourage continuous improvement while balancing performance, learning, and enjoyment to sustain long-term success.
Great to hear about focusing on winning, while developing athletes who thrive under pressure and can make decisions independently.
Additionally, a good reminder in embracing diversity, shared responsibility, and continuous learning, to ensure an environment of adaptability and resilience while under pressure – a mindset shift from seeing pressure as a threat, to an opportunity for growth.
We were reminded that becoming better doesn’t happen overnight, it is a continuous journey that requires time, patience, and a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Thank you to all who attended, and to Darren Shand for sharing his wisdom!
