About the company

FarmRight Limited is a well-established agricultural investment company with investments across New Zealand and Tasmania in dairy, beef, viticulture and horticulture. The FarmRight team currently manages over 60 farming operations on behalf of a range of investors (including the New Zealand Superannuation Fund, other international funds, equity partnerships and corporates) and is involved in the management of over 300 on-farm staff.

With strategic objectives that demand strong investment growth coupled with an increase in the demand for specialised business management skills, FarmRight has identified the need to increase its capability in investment analysis; enabling more effective decision making and the enhancement of analysis, reporting and guidance to ensure client returns are optimised and investment objectives are met.

FarmRight needs a talented, senior and experienced Portfolio Analyst to join the Christchurch based team. Is this you?

About the opportunity

The Portfolio Analyst reports to the NZSF Portfolio Leader and works closely with all FarmRight portfolio leaders – including the Chief Executive. As the Portfolio Analyst, you will provide comprehensive and valuable financial, investment and market analysis and reporting that drives decision making and supports organisation-wide achievement of operational and strategic objectives. You will provide this analysis on the existing portfolio performance, portfolio improvement opportunities and portfolio growth opportunities together with analysing and reporting on existing and potential markets and industries.

In undertaking these accountabilities, you will: 

  • Use exceptional technical capability combined with available technology and tools to provide analysis and reporting (as requested and proactively) to support decision making and the achievement of operational and achievement objectives;
  • Operate in accordance with the values and behaviours expected including leading a culture of safety and sustainability;
  • Create, manage and enhance close working relationships with key stakeholders and decision makers – internal and external;
  • Contribute to the development of strategic objectives and plans for the portfolios as required;
  • Support the resolution of issues and the overcoming of challenges through use of analysis and expertise as necessary.

This is a senior role which requires a high level of intellectual and analytical capability combined with the ability to develop strong working partnerships, operate as a leader and achieve results. Is this you?

About you

To be successful in this role, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification and have exceptional and proven financial and investment analysis skills. You may have established your technical capability in corporate finance or investment banking and you will have built on these skills by honing your relationship management and client focused approach.  An eye for identifying opportunities in the data and in the market will set you apart as a leader in this role as will your down-to-earth style and your affinity for the Agri-sector.
