About the opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the People & Culture Manager is a key member of the management team at NZ Merino. The position is to provide leadership in all people practices, employee engagement, and culture, to ensure NZ Merino meets its strategic and operational objectives. Your key accountabilities also include: 

  • Execute a people lens across the business. Look to develop, implement, improve and administer strategies, policies and programs covering all aspects of people Management.
  • Attract, develop and retention of talent, ensuring NZM is a market-leading employer and positioning NZM as a ‘talent magnet’ for the primary sector.
  • Be a trusted advisor to the Senior Management team, working alongside them to execute against the NZM strategy – providing a people lens and foreseeing resourcing needs.
  • Coach, develop and support managers to increase effective employee communication, feedback and recognition.
  • Manage Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HS&W) for NZM, including regular reporting at staff meetings, managing the hazard/incident register, plus leading the HS &W team at quarterly meetings.
  • Work with managers to identify and support future leaders, providing L&D and other opportunities to grow at NZM.
