About the opportunity

Based in the Christchurch office and reporting to the Ashton Wheelans Directors, the General Manager takes overall accountability for leading the achievement of the strategic and operational objectives.  In doing this, the General Manager will enhance operational effectiveness, lead and maintain a culture of success and develop and carefully manage key stakeholder relationships. Ashton Wheelans is looking for a General Manager who can inspire and develop the capability of the team which in turn will result in greater organisational success.

Wearing strategic and operational hats, the General Manager will:

  • Work closely with the Board to develop and implement business strategy;
  • Provide operational leadership and in doing so build staff and organisational capability to support future growth aspirations;
  • Proactively and positively manage key stakeholder relationships to ensure ongoing sustainable, profitable and mutually beneficial business relationships;
  • Provide strong people leadership to a dynamic team and ensure the culture supports the business strategy;
  • Build the Ashton Wheelans brand and reputation through existing client relationships.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will be a commercially savvy, strategic thinker who has proven senior leadership experience. With a reputation for building strategic relationships – you will have a down to earth, approachable style and will know how to make things happen. 

Ideally you will be able to demonstrate your capability in driving profitable sales and operational excellence. You will have a strong commercial and financial understanding; be able to identify business drivers and be skilled in creating efficiencies within business processes.

An exceptional communicator; you will enjoy building relationships and will have the ability to get people working together in an ever-changing and dynamic business where teamwork and customer service excellence are top priorities.
