About the company

Christchurch City Holdings Limited (CCHL) is the wholly owned investment arm of the Christchurch City Council and currently holds shares in six trading companies. These trading companies own and run some of the key infrastructure of Christchurch, including electricity and broadband delivery, the port, the airport, facilities and infrastructure maintenance, waste processing and recycling facilities – all of which are critical to the regional economy. 

With such diversity and complexity of investments, times are always dynamic at CCHL and we need a talented “up-and-comer” with a professional qualification or equivalent experience to step up to provide corporate and communications support to the busy Chief Executive Officer and team. About the opportunity

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and working collaboratively with the professional and skilled CCHL Team, the Corporate and Communications Support / Executive Assistant (CCEA) takes accountability for providing the right support, research and advice to ensure the organisation runs smoothly towards its objectives. In doing this, the CCEA will: 

  • Act as the “right hand” to the CEO, keeping them well informed of upcoming commitments, events, issues and transactions to ensure they are well prepared and is in the best shape to achieve objectives;
  • Coordinate and manage all external communications, social media posts and the CCHL website to ensure the right messages are reaching the right people at the right time.
  • Develop and coordinate key events and projects for CCHL including the Annual General Meeting and the annual governance recruitment programmes for CCHL and its subsidiaries;
  • Provide general administrative and office management support to the CCHL Team;
  • Develop strong working relationships with key members of the CCHL subsidiaries, the Christchurch City Council and other stakeholders within the city.

About you

To be successful in this role, you will hold a relevant tertiary qualification or have equivalent experience and you may have started your career in a commercial or professional service role – ideally in law, commerce, marketing, operations management or HR. Your drive and willingness to develop yourself professionally will have focused your sights on a bigger commercial path and you will be able to see the potential in this role. 

People will describe you as a “go getter” and someone who is always prepared to get stuck in to sort out problem or get the work done. A strong communicator; you will innately know how to build positive working relationships across an organisation, and your empathetic yet organised and structured approach will allow you to connect with people while getting the job sorted.
