About the company

Calder Stewart is a national construction and property company specialising in design and build services to the industrial, commercial, rural and public sectors. Founded in 1955, Calder Stewart has a thirst for building innovation, pride in traditional business values and a commitment to 'build a strong future.'  In addition, the wider Calder Stewart Group (and its associated entities) holds and manages a significant industrial and commercial property portfolio that supports Group activities and those of many of New Zealand’s well known organisations.

An internal promotion has led to the need for a talented and experienced Commercial Leasing Manager to join the Property team to continue to drive strong commercial returns on these property portfolios.  Are you ready to step up to this exceptional role?

About the opportunity

Reporting to the Development Manager, Operations and leading a small team of facilities and property professionals, the Commercial Leasing Manager takes accountability for ensuring all properties owned by the Group – through variously entities and funds – are optimally leased, well managed and ultimately provide a strong commercial return for the Calder Stewart Group.  In doing this, the Commercial Leasing Manager will – amongst other things:

  • Lead the Property and Facilities Management Team, providing clear direction and guidance to enable the individuals and the team to achieve their objectives.
  • Secure new tenants and renegotiate existing commercial tenancies utilising accepted Commercial Leasing Agreements and other terms and conditions as appropriate - optimising returns and conditions.
  • Proactively develop and manage strong working relationships with all tenants and prospective tenants; recognising the strategic importance of effective and sustainable business relationships.
  • Undertake special property and facilities projects as required by the Development Manager, Operations.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across the Development Team, providing advice, commercial leasing expertise and hands-on support as needed.

This is an important leadership role within the Calder Stewart Group – and specifically the Property Team - that requires a comprehensive understanding of Commercial Leasing terms, agreements and practices together with a strong focus on sustainable relationships both internally and externally. Sound like you?

About you

To be successful as the Commercial Leasing Manager, you will have proven experience in Commercial Leasing and have a robust understanding of accepted Commercial Leasing Arrangements (eg: the ADLS Commercial Lease Agreement) and other established commercial leasing terms and conditions. You may have developed your experience and knowledge within a larger organisation that owns and manages property, as a commercial leasing agent or have a background in property law.

An exceptional communicator with a proactive approach to developing and managing strong business relationships; your colleagues will describe you as down-to-earth, collaborative and always ready to roll up your sleeves to get the job done. An organised, self-starter, you will balance the detail in your own work while empowering your team to achieve their objectives.

In return, you will be rewarded with this rare opportunity to further your career while contributing to commercial objectives of this successful family-owned business with strong links to the heartland of New Zealand. Interested?
